Nova Lima announces Railway Line Park with avenue and linear park

Nova Lima City Hall announced an ambitious project to transform an old deactivated railway into a linear park with a 5.2 km avenue, aiming to alleviate traffic in the region. The expectation is that the Parque Linha Férrea, in addition to offering a transit alternative for drivers, will integrate several neighborhoods and promote quality of life for residents. The project has already undergone public consultations and received a favorable opinion from the SPU, with the next step being the signing of the transfer agreement by the municipalities involved.

The new avenue should act as an alternative route for those traveling from the Vila da Serra region towards BR-356, reducing dependence on the BH Shopping interchange, known for congestion. In addition to the road, the linear park will feature squares, ecological trails and social spaces, integrating neighborhoods such as Vale do Sereno, Jardim da Torre, Mangabeiras and Belvedere.

Parque Linha Férrea is part of a series of road interventions in the region, including Avenida Flávio Guimarães, which is already 70% completed and should be delivered by the end of the year, and the future Ferradura Viaduct, which will connect MG-030 to BR-356, avoiding the BH Shopping interchange. Other works in progress are the paving of the Nova Lima-Sabará road, with 50% completion, and the Rio de Peixe road project, which will connect Honório Bicalho to BR-040.
