The knifeman from Ostrołęka had an explosive in his backpack. "Almost Detonated"

At the Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostrołęka, a 19-year-old attacked 9 people with a knife on Wednesday - 5 students, 2 teachers and 2 bystanders. The injured were taken to hospitals in Łomża and Ostrołęka, their lives are not in danger. The perpetrator, who is a student of this school, was arrested by the police. The District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka announced the initiation of an investigation into attempted murder.

In the evening, on TVN24, prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk was asked about the case.

We are now certain that the perpetrator of this incident entered the school premises with a dangerous tool in the form of a knife, and what's more, in the backpack he also brought into the school premises there was a homemade explosive device which was almost detonated - said the national prosecutor.

He added that according to the information he received from the district prosecutor in Ostrołęka, smoke began to come out of the backpack carried by the student at some point.

The backpack was already in the computer room, (...) and only due to the proper behavior of the teacher and students, it was thrown out the window and perhaps this (...) prevented its detonation - said prosecutor Korneluk.
