Drama in the abbey in Jarosław. New information from the prosecutor's office

The latest announcement from the Przemyśl prosecutor's office shows that investigators are waiting for the third opinion of expert psychiatrists on the health condition of Ihor M., suspected of the attack in the Jarosław abbey. The point is to determine whether the man can be questioned.

The first psychiatric opinion regarding Ihor M. indicated acute psychotic disorders, delusional interpretation of events and lack of logical contact. In the second opinion, the experts noticed only a slight improvement in the form of cessation of hostility and "normalization of psychomotor drive."

The current state of mental health should not be confused with the concept of the perpetrator's sanity at the time of the act, which determines criminal liability. This circumstance will be determined separately in the investigation, explains Małgorzata Taciuch-Kurasiewicz, spokeswoman for the Przemyśl prosecutor's office.

Ihor M. has a public defender. He is being held in temporary custody in a psychiatric hospital, in the forensic psychiatry ward with enhanced security.

31-year-old Ukrainian Ihor M. is suspected of stabbing the priest numerous times on September 24 in the Jarosław Abbey. Stanisław Zbojnowicz, which resulted in his death. He also tried to kill Krzysztof G., priest. Marek Pieńkowski, Fr. Adrian Mantykiewicz and Ewa S., causing serious, life-threatening injuries to them.
