New case of Dengue in Udine: order for extraordinary disinfestation

A new case of Dengue virus has been reported in Udine by the Central Friuli University Health Authority. The Municipality made this known, announcing that the mayor Alberto Felice De Toni today signed a contingent and urgent ordinance which orders the execution of an extraordinary disinfestation intervention in the area of ​​Viale Giuseppe Duodo.

The operations - informs the Municipality - will affect public and private areas within a radius of 200 meters from the home where the person affected by Dengue resides.

The intervention includesadulticidal and larvicidal treatments, inspection of the affected areas and removal of any larval outbreaks. The adulticidal disinfestation operations will start at 00 in the night between today and tomorrow and will be repeated in the following two days.

The operation will last approximately 3 hours. Residents will have to remain inside the buildings, keeping doors and windows closed and suspending the operation of air exchange systems.

Citizens and property managers must allow access to private areas to the personnel of the company in charge of disinfestation. Pets must be kept indoors during treatments. Before disinfestation, the fruit and vegetables in the gardens must be harvested. Furthermore, to counter the proliferation of the tiger mosquito, the ordinance requires the elimination of all possible stagnant water present in outdoor spaces, including terraces, balconies, courtyards and gardens. Failure to comply with the ordinance entails an administrative fine between 100 and 600 euros.
