Five people were killed in a shooting in Georgia, NYT reports

In the state of Georgia, a shooting occurred in the city of Douglas, as a result of which five people were killed.

The motive for the crime is unknown, but law enforcement believes the suspect committed suicide.

MOSCOW, October 11 - RIA Novosti. Five people died in a domestic shooting in Georgia, the New York Times reports, citing local police.

"The shooting in the city of Douglas was related to domestic violence... five people were fatally wounded," the newspaper writes.

Local police chief Brannen Pruett told reporters that a few hours before the incident, a woman called the police to complain about her husband smoking in the house.

Police later responded to reports of shots fired and found four bodies, as well as one wounded person who later died in hospital.
