The principal who 'broke down' the school while students were dying! Investigation permission for the principal, his assistant and 2 teachers

Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, regarding the armed attack at Ayser Çalık Secondary School, school principal C.K. and deputy principal F.B. and teacher A.T. about "leaving the school during the attack", guidance counselor E.İ. He requested permission for an investigation from the Kahramanmaraş Governorship on the grounds that "he did not notify the perpetrator before the attack".

In the armed attack carried out by İsa Aras Mersinli, an 8th grade student of the school, at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in Kahramanmaraş on April 15, teacher Ayla Kara and 9 students lost their lives and 15 students were injured.

According to ANKA news, Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the school's principal C.K. and the school's deputy principal, F.B. It launched an ex officio investigation against him for the crimes of "abandonment and failure to report the crime".

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that, within the scope of the investigation, when the security camera footage of the school building and its annexes was examined, "it was determined that the school principal C.K. and the deputy principal F.B. immediately went out of the school building and left the school building upon hearing gunshots during the incident."

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested permission from the Kahramanmaraş Governorship to investigate the principal and his deputy who left the school, in accordance with Article 3/j of the Law No. 4483 on the Trial of Civil Servants and Other Public Officials.

On the other hand, guidance counselor E.İ. and teacher A.T. An ex officio investigation was launched against him.

In the documents sent to the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by the Inspection Board of the Ministry of National Education on 18 August 2026, A.T. It was learned that a report was prepared because the teacher named left the school during the incident.

It was understood that a report was prepared for the guidance counselor named, before the incident, regarding the perpetrator İsa Aras Mersinli, because "he did not notify the General Directorate of Child Services in accordance with Article 6 of the Child Protection Law, since the perpetrator was a child in need of protection."

In the deposit report, it was emphasized that "it was determined that no decision was taken to grant permission for an investigation against those concerned." The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office evaluated that the actions in question fell within the scope of "duty crime" and that a preliminary investigation should be made about those concerned and a decision should be taken to grant permission for an investigation.

In the first hearing of the school attack, held on September 4 at the Kahramanmaraş 3rd High Criminal Court, the school's guidance counselor E.İ, for whom investigation permission was requested, was heard as a "witness". Furkan Mehmet Cinkara, one of the student lawyers, argued that the situation was against procedure.
