Over 500 Italian fans welcome the women's national basketball team to Berlin before the match against the USA

The support for the Italian basketball team is growing at the World Cup underway in Germany. After the debut victory and in view of the super challenge with the US champions, before training, coach Capobianco's national team wanted to thank the many Italians who came to Germany to support the team. Over 500 fans arrived at the meeting, which was held in front of the hotel that hosts fifteen national teams, reaching the Blu Radisson Collection for an autograph, a selfie, a greeting.

"What happened in front of the national team's hotel is something that goes beyond our expectations and that moves us deeply - the words of the president of the FIP, Gianni Petrucci -. We had thought of a simple moment to thank our fans for the support they are giving us here in Berlin and we found ourselves in front of hundreds of people, with extraordinary enthusiasm and affection. It is the most beautiful demonstration of how much these girls have entered the hearts of Italians. It is not just the sporting result, although very important: it is the way in which this national team knows how to represent our Country, with its enthusiasm, its seriousness, its simplicity and its way of being together.

Seeing so many Italian fans come to Berlin, and finding them there waiting for our girls, is an emotion that we will carry with us throughout the World Cup. Our most sincere thanks go to them. And I tell the Azzurre to simply continue to be themselves: because, evidently, their way of being is winning over more and more people. This affection is a precious heritage for the national team and for the entire Italian basketball movement."
