The candidate for the government of Amazonas, Omar Aziz (PSD), participated in a popular event in the East Zone of Manaus, on Thursday night (10). During the agenda, he spoke about proposals for the health sector, such as the construction of three maternity wards, as well as hospitals, SPAs and UPAs in the capital.

Omar Aziz is running for the position for the “Força Amazonas” coalition, formed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) and Republicans. The candidate was governor of the state between 2010 and 2014 and was subsequently elected senator and re-elected to the position in 2022.

Among the proposals for health, the candidate stated that he intends to build three maternity hospitals in Manaus, in addition to hospitals, Emergency Care Services (SPAs) and Emergency Care Units (UPAs). Omar also criticized the situation of queues for care in the Unified Health System (SUS).

"Now I'm going to build three maternity wards in Manaus, a hospital, a SPA and an UPA to serve the people, to serve the population well. It's not a lack of money, it's a lack of shame in not doing this for the people, because there was no lack of money. I had much less money and I built a lot of things", he stated.

The candidate's agenda began in the afternoon with an internal meeting with leaders from the interior of Amazonas.

Elections 2026

The electoral campaign began on August 16 across the country. Candidates can now advertise on the streets and on the internet. On TV and radio, advertising began on Friday (28). The first round of elections will be on October 4th.

This year, Brazilians will vote for:

president;

governor;

senator;

federal deputy;

state deputy.
