Murder-suicide in Finale Ligure: Daniele Baruzzo's tickets seized

All the tickets found in the house of Daniele Baruzzo, the 59-year-old engineer who killed his wife, 60-year-old Paola Siri and their 15-year-old son Mattia on the night between 2 and 3 September and then took his own life, were seized. In those notes the investigators, who are working on the investigation into the murder-suicide coordinated by the Savona prosecutor's office, think they can find the motivation that pushed Baruzzo to carry out an atrocious gesture.

On those notes, in addition to the desperation for the loss of his mother who had been suffering from Alzheimer's for some time, there was also concern for her teenage son and the strong family tensions that would derive from the relationship with the boy. Certainly, those messages reveal, according to the investigators, a state of strong emotional tension that would have led Baruzzo to think about, organize and carry out the murder-suicide.

The investigations must also shed light on the sequence of events: from an initial analysis the investigators hypothesize that what happened was not dictated by an impulse, but was organised. The family was apparently ready to go on a short weekend cruise. Baruzzo would have acted around midnight on Wednesday: the moment was crystallized by the testimony of neighbors who said they had clearly heard shots. The bodies were found only about 12 hours later thanks to the phone call from the owner of the company where Baruzzo worked, who did not see him arrive, and the intervention of some family members. But the sequence of events in the villa in Finale Ligure - Baruzzo allegedly shot first Mattia and then his wife - can only be confirmed by the autopsy ordered by the magistrate in charge in parallel with the examination of the semi-automatic pistol regularly held by the man.

The small community of Finale Ligure is waiting to know the date of the funeral, which can only be established after the completion of the autopsies and the authorization from the prosecutor's office. Meanwhile, the mayor of Finale Angelo Berlangieri today signed an ordinance with which the city's mourning is proclaimed: "given that on 3 September 2026 our community was profoundly shaken and shocked by the tragic news of the premature and violent death of the Baruzzo-Siri family following a dramatic crime committed within the family - we read in the ordinance - and considering that the entire citizenry was astonished and deeply affected by this painful event which violated fundamental values of life, family and civil coexistence, arousing a unanimous feeling of pain, dismay and profound emotion" on the day of the funeral the flags on public buildings will remain at half-mast.
