Udine, fatal screwdriver attack: 61-year-old Moroccan victim killed by her sister's ex-boyfriend

A sudden ambush, perhaps with a screwdriver, a blow to the head and a 61-year-old man left on the ground in very serious conditions, who later died within a few minutes in hospital. This is what happened tonight, Friday 4 September, in Udine, in via Castions di Strada. The victim, of Moroccan origin, was returning home after doing the shopping. The neighbors called 112. The medics, who arrived on site with the police officers, managed to stabilize the man, who was immediately transported to the Santa Maria della Misericordia hospital in Udine, in desperate conditions. He died shortly after arriving at the emergency room.

According to an initial reconstruction by the investigators, among the hypotheses that led to the ambush there would be family disagreements: the alleged attacker would in fact be the ex-partner of the 61-year-old's sister. After hitting the victim, the perpetrator fled on foot across the nearby fields, disappearing into the darkness before the arrival of the police, who triggered a manhunt to track down the fugitive. The entire area was cordoned off and closed to carry out the necessary investigations.

Laika, the victim's sister, strengthened the trail followed by the investigators: she in fact reported, as reported by Messaggero Veneto, that she had interrupted the relationship with the attacker about a month ago. A decision that the man never accepted, even going so far as, three days ago, to show up at the woman's workplace seeking clarification. Faced with her refusal, he would lash out at her with words like 'I'll burn you'. And today the murder of his brother.

According to the testimony of the victim's 63-year-old brother-in-law, the attacker would be the same one who the day before had damaged his car and threatened his son, the very man who had had a relationship, now over, with the family member. The 63-year-old had reported the incident to the police.
