The number of deaths due to consumption of herbal drinks in Ondo state increased to 30

The number of people who died due to "herbal drink" consumption in Ondo state in southwestern Nigeria has increased to 30.

Odigbo Local Government Chairman Taiwo Adegoroye, in his statement, reminded that those who consumed "herbal drinks" in the cities of Araromi Obu and Odigbo in Ondo state were taken to hospitals on suspicion of being poisoned.

LOSSES OF LIFE INCREASED TO 30

Adegoroye stated that the number of people who lost their lives in the incident increased to 30, and approximately 50 people were treated in hospitals.

Police Spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh also stated in his statement that the investigation into the incident is continuing.

Jimoh warned citizens not to consume unlicensed or suspicious alcoholic beverages and herbal products until the investigation is completed.

The state government also called for non-consumption of substances, herbal drinks and various mixtures that are not approved for human consumption.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In Ondo state, 24 people died after consuming "herbal drinks" on September 9, and many people were hospitalized on suspicion of poisoning.

It was reported that sanctions will be imposed on those who produce and sell the products in question.
