Bus overturns on BR-122 in Bahia leaving seven dead and 13 injured

At least seven people died and 13 were injured in an accident involving a bus on the BR-122, near Iraquara, a city in the Chapada Diamantina region, in Bahia, on Friday night (25).

According to TV Bahia, the bus departed from Fortaleza, in Ceará, and was destined for Palmas, in the state of Tocantins. The vehicle is part of the Real Maia company fleet and fell onto the track.

The Military Police and Fire Department were called and teams were still at the scene of the incident on Saturday morning (26).

The PM states that after the bus collapses, there is a possibility that other victims will be located.

One of the victims was identified as Luca José Jesus Santana, a Military Police soldier assigned to the 28th CIPM/Ibotirama. He was hitchhiking and was in uniform at the time of the accident.

The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. The circumstances are still to be determined.
