Typhoon Shuliki No. 26 may approach Japan, Kanto victims are worried

According to the typhoon path potential forecast map released by the Japan Meteorological Agency at 18:45 this evening, "Shuliki" was in southern Okinawa at 18:00 pm (5:00 pm, Taipei time), with a central air pressure of 990 hPa, a maximum wind speed of 30 meters per second near the center, and a maximum instantaneous wind speed of 40 meters per second.

"Asahi Shimbun" reported that Typhoon "Shuriki" is expected to gradually move northeastward and may approach Kyushu, Shikoku, Honshu and other regions next week.

The Kanto region, including Chiba Prefecture, has recently been hit by Typhoon No. 25 "Azalea" this year, causing heavy rains and disasters. Inbamanuma, a lake in Chiba Prefecture, burst its banks, causing widespread flooding. The uneasiness among the victims is spreading.

A 65-year-old resident near the river basin said frankly, "I couldn't bear it anymore mentally. I really fell ill." He lived with five family members. On the 22nd of this month, the day after Typhoon Dujuan approached, the house was flooded to a height of about 1 meter. At about 6:30 a.m. that day, he saw from his home that rice fields, farmland and roads were gradually being engulfed by floods, and the flooding area was approaching step by step.

"It was almost like a lake," he recalled, worrying whether the levees would burst again. He said: "I woke up at 4:30 this morning. I couldn't sleep at all."

The Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) reported today that heavy rains brought by Typhoon "Cuckoo" caused disasters such as landslides and river flooding in Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures. The death toll has increased to 12 people, and four others are missing.
