Ex officio investigation into Özgür Çelik's 'prosecutor threat' allegations

In the statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that an investigation was launched ex officio regarding Çelik's allegations that, in his speech after the election of Deputy Mayor of Üsküdar, Üsküdar Municipal Council Member Ayhan Aydın called him and said, "The prosecutor threatened me with arrest. My son and my wife are disabled, who will take care of them? I surrendered to them because there was no one to take care of them."

In the statement, it was noted that Aydın was instructed to be present at the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to testify regarding the allegations in question.

AYHAN AYDIN DENIES ÇELİK'S 'THREAT' CLAIMS

Üsküdar Municipal Council Member Ayhan Aydın, whose statement was taken within the scope of the investigation, said, "These words do not belong to me and what is said does not reflect the truth. I have not been threatened by any person, institution or authority. The claim that a public prosecutor or another public official threatened me is completely unfounded. No such incident took place." In his statement, it was also stated that Aydın said that he was called many times at the request of Çelik and that they were tried to put him under pressure before the Deputy Mayor election.
