Relations between Türkiye and Pakistan were emphasized at the Pakistan Defense and Martyrs' Day Reception

A reception was held at the Pakistani Embassy in Ankara on the occasion of 'Pakistan Defense and Martyrs Day'. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel, Air Forces Commander General Rafet Dalkıran, Pakistan's Ambassador to Ankara Yusuf Cüneyd attended the reception. Speaking here, Minister Güler expressed that he congratulates the Defense and Martyrs' Day of the friendly and brotherly country Pakistan with his most sincere wishes. Minister Güler stated that the relations between Turkey and Pakistan are based on common historical memory, deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood and unshakable mutual trust, and said, "Our nations have stood by each other throughout history, in joy and sorrow, and have demonstrated the best examples of friendship and brotherhood with the solidarity they have displayed in difficult times. For us, Pakistan is beyond being a friendly country, it is an integral part of our geography of hearts, a strategic partner with whom we share the same ideals and values. Today, this strong brotherhood is based on diplomacy, defense-security, economy, education, "It has turned into a multidimensional cooperation that deepens day by day in the fields of technology. Our close cooperation in the military field constitutes one of the strongest areas of this strategic partnership. We are very pleased with the high level we have reached thanks to the joint training activities and exercises, personnel exchange programs and mutual experience sharing between our armed forces, and our increasing solidarity within this framework."

Stating that Turkey and Pakistan undertake important responsibilities not only for their own security, but also for the establishment and strengthening of peace, stability and international security in the region and around the world, Minister Güler continued as follows:

"One of the current and concrete examples of this understanding is Pakistan's comprehensive diplomatic initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and stability in our region. As a matter of fact, we are pleased to observe Pakistan's intense efforts to end the war between Iran and the United States of America, ensure a ceasefire and establish permanent peace. Pakistan's sincere diplomatic efforts, with its intense and constructive attitude in hosting the meetings between the parties in this process and stopping the conflicts, were also appreciated by the international community. As Turkey, on such a critical issue "We act in close consultation and coordination with our strategic partner Pakistan, which plays a leading role."
