Paula Belmonte (PSDB), Candidate for the government of the Federal District, underwent a hearing in DF1, this Wednesday morning (15).
In the interview, Belmonte spoke about the candidacy, choice of party, health and the crisis involving the BRB.
The interviewees are the best placed candidates in the voting intention survey, released by Datafolha on Friday (11). On Thursday (16), it will be José Roberto Arruda (PSD)'s turn.
Application
The first question was about the change of position from district deputy to governor. Paula Belmonte responded that, as a district deputy, she was part of important committees in the Legislative Chamber (CLDF) and, for this reason, she knows the budget of Brazil and Brasília.
"Unfortunately, what we see in Brasília today in the Federal District is the misuse of resources. Sometimes overlapping policies, but also corruption. And we have always been very active in the fight against corruption. So here I am absolutely sure that we are well prepared and know exactly what happens in the DF", he said.
Paula Belmonte said that the role of head of the Executive does not “frighten” her. He also stated that he intends to prioritize education in the capital.
"I'm a result of a public school here in the Federal District. So I believe in public schools. So much so that I, as a deputy, was the one who put the most money into education. [...] We see a teacher, a very fierce teacher, but at the same time it's very sad, because the school structure doesn't exist. So that makes me sad. We're going to win so that we can show that the country's capital is a capital of hope, of the possibility of joy, of dreaming", he declared.
Party choice
Asked about the decision of the PSDB-Cidadania federation to support another name in the dispute for the Government of the Federal District in 2022, after she introduced herself as a pre-candidate for Palácio do Buriti and classified the episode as "macho", Paula Belmonte stated that it was a "very sad" moment in her political career.
Without directly answering whether she still considers the decision a sexist attitude, the candidate said that she and the then senator Reguffe were prevented by the parties from contesting the election and stated that she now considers the time has come to run for Palácio do Buriti.
"At that time, unfortunately, the parties did not allow us to become a candidate. [...] But I am a Christian person and I believe that everything has its time. Now the time has come for me to become governor and win the elections", she stated.
Health
Regarding public health in the DF, the candidate was asked what she will do to strengthen basic care, integrate electronic medical records and reorganize care flows, and replied that the situation in the capital "is shameful".
"The UBS's have to be close to home. So in our government, we have a goal of building 40 more UBS's to be within the city, within the administrative regions, to provide preventive health, health in veins, health at home. There is no UBS today that has a full team working. Unfortunately we don't have 111 back-office doctors. So we are going to strengthen these UBS's", he says.
"We are going to bring digitalization to the government, to bring opportunities for people to know where they are in their appointment, where their appointment for surgery is, organize the surgery queue, make sure that community agents are inside people's homes to be able to monitor them, including violations of rights", added the candidate.
IGES
Asked what plan the candidate has for changing the DF Strategic Management Institute (Iges-DF), Paula Belmonte said that she intends to carry out an audit at Iges to change the free appointment model and defended the appointment of public servants. She stated that she intends to strengthen the SUS, but said she is against the expansion of Iges.
"Today, I can't talk about ending Iges, but I want to strengthen the SUS. The strengthened SUS can reach people's homes, perform surgery in people's homes and know the reality. So Iges cannot expand. [...] We need to take back what was taken from the SUS.
