Oil leak at Pemex facility in the Gulf of Mexico

The oil leak occurred at a facility of the Mexican oil company Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico, 46 ​​nautical miles north of the city of Ciudad del Carmen.

Mexican authorities activated a contingency plan and deployed forces to contain and recover hydrocarbons.

Pemex specialists have determined that the leak occurred in the pipeline and are working to contain it under the supervision of the Safety, Energy and Environment Agency (ASEA).

MEXICO CITY, September 12 - RIA Novosti. The oil leak occurred at a facility of Mexican oil company Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico about 46 nautical miles north of the city of Ciudad del Carmen, the science ministry said.

"On September 10, the Gulf Permanent Observatory reported a spill incident at Pemex facilities located 46 nautical miles north of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche," the Gulf Permanent Observatory said in a blog post on Science X.

On the day of the leak, Mexican authorities activated the regional emergency response plan of the Regional Response and Emergency Management Team (GRAME) in Ciudad del Carmen to assist Pemex in efforts to contain and recover hydrocarbons at sea. The ocean patrol of the Mexican Navy ARM Guanajuato, four ships, two aircraft and 255 naval personnel were sent to carry out the work.

Pemex specialists have determined that the leak occurred in the pipeline and are working to contain it. The Mexican Agency for Safety, Energy and Environment (ASEA) is monitoring the containment, cleaning and repair of the pipeline.
