Dachshund race in Oberkrämer: 50 dogs measure their sprinting abilities

On Sunday in Oberkrämer (Oberhavel district) dozens of dachshunds will measure their sprinting abilities. The organizers announced that “50 nimble dachshunds” will then go “on a 41-meter-long race track.” The starting signal sounds at 4 p.m. Dachshund owners must register their little athletes beforehand. The competition is part of the harvest festival in the Bärenklau district.

In the dachshund races, victory is of secondary importance and there is no betting either. The cute animals often delight spectators with smaller racing escapades. It is not uncommon for the dogs to run in the opposite direction, run into the neighboring lane or not run at all. The dachshund community also meets with all sorts of dachshund devotional items.
