Pescia, 38 year old arrested for torture and attempted sexual violence

The police brought a 38-year-old accused of attacking a twenty-year-old along the banks of the Pescia river. The intervention of a passer-by who called 112 stopped the violence, allowing the officers to quickly track down the person responsible

An afternoon spent together turned into a nightmare of unprecedented violence. The State Police has carried out a precautionary custody order in prison against a 38-year-old Dominican citizen, resident in Montecatini Terme (Pistoia) and with numerous specific precedents, accused of the crimes of torture and attempted sexual violence against a 20-year-old Italian girl. The events took place along the banks of the Pescia river in the municipality of the same name in the province of Pistoia. The two had arranged to meet a few hours earlier. The situation degenerated when the man attempted a sexual approach and the young woman firmly opposed it.

The alarm was raised by a passerby who heard the screams

Faced with refusal, the attacker unleashed a blind fury: he dragged the victim into the water, carrying out a brutal simulation of controlled drowning, in an attempt to break his resistance. Not satisfied, he dragged her back to shore, beating her legs with a belt, throwing stones at her and even putting out some cigarettes on her face. The sequence of violence was interrupted by the providential intervention of a passer-by who, hearing the desperate screams of the girl crying for help, immediately dialed 112.

The attacker taken to prison after a brief escape

At the sight of help, the man fled, losing track of himself. The rapid investigations conducted by the investigators of the Judicial Police Team of the Pescia Commissariat made it possible to quickly tighten the circle around the 38-year-old, who was tracked down and blocked. At the disposal of the judicial authority, he was transferred to Pistoia prison. The girl, rescued and entrusted to medical care, fortunately suffered injuries judged to be healable in a few days.
