Datafolha research shows record negative evaluation of the STF in 2026

A Datafolha survey released this Saturday (26) revealed that 47% of Brazilians evaluate the work of the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) as negative. This is the highest index in the historical series starting in 2019.

The positive evaluation of ministers is 18%, reaching the lowest level since 2019. Another 31% classify the Court's performance as regular and 4% did not give an opinion.

The numbers also recorded that, among Lula (PT) voters, 32% consider the ministers' work to be excellent or good, and among Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) voters, the number is 6%.

The Court's negative assessment is 69% of Flávio's voters, who classify the ministers' work as bad or terrible. In the case of Lula voters, the number is 24%.

Among those interviewed, 33% say that the ministers' actions harm the PL representative's candidacy more than they benefit, while 23% point out that the Court's actions harm the PT candidate more than they benefit.

Regarding the proposal to create a Code of Ethics and Conduct for STF ministers, defended by the President of the Court, Edson Fachin, 45% of the electorate said they were in favor and 33% were against.

At the beginning of the year, Fachin announced Cármen Lúcia as rapporteur of the proposal for a Code of Ethics for the Court and said that he presented suggestions to the rapporteur.

"A code of ethics also has a component, let's say, of a material, historical, cultural nature. It is also a set of practices. And only the debate about this idea is already relevant to raise certain circumstances and, therefore, we, strictly speaking, have already started in various circumstances, in various quarters, to highlight questions, interpellations that the facts generate about certain types of events here."

The survey, contracted by Folha and Globo, was carried out from Tuesday (22) to Wednesday (23) with 2,002 voters through a personal approach in points of population flow. The maximum expected margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points, considering a 95% confidence level. The data is contained in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) system.
