Texas woman gave birth unexpectedly after not knowing she was pregnant despite still using birth control pills

AmericaAubrie Morris, 21 years old, in Texas, did not know she was pregnant even though she was still using birth control pills until she suddenly gave birth at home.

At the age of 19, Aubrie Morris and her boyfriend Preston met while attending college in Texas. She plans to continue studying law school, so she has not thought about getting married or having children after graduation.

Since May 2025, Morris noticed a gradual increase in weight. By January 2026, she gained about 4.5 kg but thought it was due to late night snacks and lack of exercise. Aside from weight gain, Morris did not see any signs of pregnancy. She said she still uses birth control pills and has monthly bleeding.

On February 20, after going to school in the morning, Morris started having stomach cramps, thinking he had a digestive problem. In the evening, she noticed something unusual between her legs. "I looked down and saw something sticking out. I froze. I thought it was a tumor and I was going to die," Morris said. After three pushes, she welcomed the baby into her arms.

"I put the baby on the floor and rubbed his chest to help him cry. I did everything almost instinctively," she said.

Morris called an ambulance, took a photo of the baby, sent it to her boyfriend, and announced that she had just given birth, asking him to go to the hospital immediately.

Doctors explained that Morris had experienced a hidden pregnancy, meaning the woman did not realize she was pregnant for most of the pregnancy, even only finding out when she was in labor or giving birth. During pregnancy, women do not have periods, so bleeding during pregnancy can cause some people to mistake it for menstruation.

In Morris's case, the placenta was located anteriorly. This position may cause some women to feel fetal movements less clearly, although it is not the only cause of not recognizing pregnancy.

Four days after giving birth, Morris and her baby were discharged from the hospital and moved in with Preston. The two did not tell their parents about having a child until the girl was 8 days old.

Morris said taking care of her child was a difficult process because everything happened so suddenly, but she gradually adapted to her new role. The young madre had to put his studies on hold for a while but plans to return to school in the fall to complete the program and graduate in December.

The unexpected appearance of his daughter caused Morris's previous plans to completely change. "This experience helped me realize that unexpected things can sometimes still become an important part of life," she said.
