PM is shot in confrontation with men on motorcycles in São Gonçalo; one dies

A military police officer was shot during a confrontation with two men on a motorcycle on Rua Eneida Gomes, in the Amendoeira neighborhood, in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (21). One of the suspects died, and the other was arrested.

According to the Military Police, teams from the 7th BPM (São Gonçalo) spotted the two men acting suspiciously. During the approach, one of them allegedly shot at the police officers and hit the soldier, who worked in the Motorcycle Patrol Group.

There was a confrontation, and one of the men was shot. He died at the scene. The second man, who was on the back of the motorcycle and was believed to have fired the shots, was arrested in the act.

The police officer, identified as Nyelson Silva de Oliveira, was rescued and taken to the Alberto Torres State Hospital, in Colubandê, in São Gonçalo. According to the State Department of Health, his health condition is stable.

The Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Police are investigating the death of the man, who has not yet been officially identified, according to the Civil Police. The forensic investigation was called in, and other investigations are underway.
