PM Modi announces fast-track courts and stricter measures against exam paper leaks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said more stringent measures against examination paper leaks will be taken up at Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, in a video posted on his Instagram account.

In his post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Numerous effective measures have been taken in the past two and a half months since the paper leak incident. The culprits have been caught and are in jail. Our most important responsibility was to ensure that students' year is not wasted... The government used all its might to ensure that 22 lakh students could take their exams in the shortest possible time. On the 19th July, the results were declared... I directed the departments today to establish a fast-track court. The departments presented me with the resolution late at night. This resolution, along with the provision for a fast-track court and harsh punishment, will be discussed in the cabinet tomorrow. After the suggestions of cabinet colleagues, it will be finalised, and since the second week of Parliament is starting from Monday, efforts will be made to get that bill passed in the House as soon as possible."

'Strictest action coming': PM Modi releases midnight video message amid NEET paper leak CJP protest

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the growing controversy over the NEET paper leak issue through a video message, assuring students that the government is taking strict steps against those responsible.

This is the second time in two days that the PM has addressed the issue amid ongoing student protests over paper leaks.

Speaking at a national conference on youth welfare, Modi said the future of students is the country's greatest asset and that strict legal action will be taken against those who try to ruin it. The Centre has decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift trial and stringent punishment of those involved in paper leak cases, he said.

"Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth," Modi said, adding that no pardon will be given to those behind the leaks. He said such incidents undermine the credibility of recruitment and examination systems and shatter the aspirations of millions of candidates, and that the fast-track courts would speed up the judicial process so offenders are punished without delay.

The PM's remarks come days after thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament at Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the exam paper leaks.

The demonstrations at Jantar Mantar have been running since June 6, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), along with student groups including the Students Federation of India, All India Students Association and All India Students Federation.

Protesters have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the 2026 NEET paper leak and alleged CBSE on-screen marking irregularities, along with broader reforms in how public examinations are conducted.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)'s Saurav Das termed the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as "non-negotiable", adding that the protest would continue until the demand was met.
