New York Police Shoot Woman Who Stabbed Two People in Times Square

The New York Police shot a woman this Monday in the touristy Times Square who stabbed two people and left them seriously injured, as confirmed by local media.

The attacker, who apparently had mental health problems, and the two victims have been taken to a hospital with fatal injuries, indicates the ABC7 channel, citing police sources. Ultimately, both the attacker and one of the victims died.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which was initially reported as an armed robbery but now indicates that it was random and related to the mental health of the attacker.

The event took place in the middle of Times Square, near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue, an area usually busy with tourists, and which was temporarily closed to the public.

The victims are a man and a woman, but authorities have not given more information about them.

As seen in videos of witnesses published in X, the attacker approached a group of agents brandishing two knives who ordered her to drop her weapons, after which they shot her.

A witness told the Pix11 channel that the woman was first shot with a taser gun and, after threatening the officers, shot twice.

The attacker was dressed casually, with jeans, a pink T-shirt and a cross-body bag, as seen in the videos.
