Police arrest eighth suspect of killing and dismembering two men in Fortaleza

This Thursday (15), the Civil Police served a temporary arrest warrant against a 26-year-old individual suspected of participating in the death and dismemberment of two men in Fortaleza.

With this capture, the number of people arrested for the crime that occurred in August this year, in the Jacarecanga neighborhood, rises to eight.

The person investigated for the double homicide, whose identity was not disclosed, was located in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood.

According to police investigations, the suspect has links to leaders of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction and had three other outstanding arrest warrants, for drug trafficking crimes, another homicide and for being part of a criminal organization.

The offensive was carried out by teams from the Police Intelligence Department (DIP) of the Civil Police and the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration and Resocialization (SAP).

On October 7, the seventh suspect in the double homicide was arrested in the Genibaú neighborhood, in the capital. The 32-year-old man under investigation has a criminal record for drug trafficking and association with drug trafficking.

Before that, five suspects had already been captured on September 25th. The following day, a sixth suspect, aged 22, was arrested in the Maraponga neighborhood.

The captures were carried out by teams from the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP). After the arrests, the suspects were taken to the DHPP headquarters, where the procedures were carried out. They are now available to the Judiciary.

The two dismembered bodies were found inside a canal on Avenida Francisco Sá. The victims are two men. The Secretary of Public Security, Roberto Sá, said that the order for the double homicide came from Rio de Janeiro.

According to witnesses, upon arriving at the scene, the agents found four large bags thrown near the stream. With the help of ropes, firefighters removed the bags from the canal and placed them on the sidewalk.

When the police checked the contents of the bags, they found the bodies of the victims. One of them had its head and limbs. The other one was missing its head.
