Police arrest gang specializing in theft of luxury vehicles in Rio de Janeiro

According to the 16th DP (Barra da Tijuca), the agents had been monitoring the group for months and approached them when the gang was preparing to steal another car in Jardim Oceânico.

According to investigations, criminals roamed the streets of the South Zone, Barra and Recreio in search of high-value vehicles, mainly SUVs and pickup trucks, and used tools and electronic equipment to program keys and start the cars.

According to the police, the stolen vehicles were taken to Serrinha, in Madureira, where they were hidden with the support of drug traffickers in the region.

“The investigations continue to try to identify other members of this criminal group, as well as to establish the link between these individuals and several other thefts that occurred here in Barra da Tijuca,” said delegate Neilson Nogueira.
