The police officer was murdered by his fiancee: Lawyer Özge Penbegül was sent off to her final journey with her robe in her coffin.

Yesterday morning, in Tülbentli District of Menemen district, an argument broke out at home between Lawyer Özge Penbegül, whose parents were on holiday, and Aykut Erol, the police officer to whom she got engaged on October 3, for an unknown reason.

In the growing argument, Aykut Erol shot Özge Penbegül with the gun next to him, and then shot himself with the same gun.

Upon the notice of neighbors who heard gunshots, health, police and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the address. Under the control of the medical teams that came to the house, it was determined that Özge Penbegül had died. Erol, who was reportedly working in Hakkari, died in Izmir City Hospital, where he was taken by ambulance.

A funeral prayer was performed for Özge Penbegül at Hacıkerimoğlu Buhara Mosque in Mermerli District. Menemen District Governor Vedat Yılmaz, Menemen Chief Public Prosecutor Soner Erden, Menemen District Police Chief Gürcan Alev, Izmir Bar Association President Serhat Sökmen, lawyers, his family and relatives attended the funeral. Özge Penbegül's coffin was covered with a robe by her colleagues.

His father, retired police officer Ozan Penbegül, and other relatives had difficulty standing at the funeral. Mother Özlem Penbegül followed the funeral ceremony from the ambulance in front of the mosque.

Özge Penbegül's body was buried in Menemen Cemetery after the prayer at noon.
