Stating that his head was pressed between his legs in the vehicle, Karaal said that he could not see faces and roads, that he was transferred from vehicle to vehicle and therefore could not follow the route. Karaal stated that more than one vehicle was changed during the kidnapping process, that people in some vehicles spoke Kurdish, and that the driver of one vehicle was Iraqi. Stating in his statement that they passed through the Eurasia Tunnel twice, Karaal said that he understood this from the voice announcements in the tunnel. Karaal said that when he was first transferred to the European Side, the vehicle was driven by a person who said he was Iraqi, and then he was taken to a place similar to a cistern.
The most striking part of Karaal's statement was what happened in the cistern-like place where he said he was taken. Karaal stated that his glasses, wallet and phone were taken; He said that there were 7-8 people inside. Allegedly, the suspects beat Karaal with sticks. Karaal stated that the attackers told him that he was the "safe" of former Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality director Serdal Taşkın and Ekrem İmamoğlu and asked for 300 kilos of gold from him. When Karaal said that he did not have such money, he stated that the torture increased.
According to Karaal's statement, the suspects later escalated their allegations and asked for 500 kilos of gold, which they claimed Serdal Taşkın had hidden in Erzincan. Karaal said that the suspects continued to beat him, saying, "You will give that money." The complainant stated that he offered to give 2-3 million TL, which he said he had saved for his children, but the attackers did not accept this and continued to beat him, saying "We will give you 2 million." According to the statement, the suspects also tried to access the money in Karaal's accounts. Karaal said that the attackers talked among themselves, "Let's bring a computer, let the money be transferred to our account," but later they did not bring a computer.
Karaal explained that after being taken out of the cistern-like place, he was put back into the vehicle and taken to another point through the Eurasia Tunnel. Describing this second place as "a place like a sewer", Karaal said that he was beaten here too, his eyes and hands were tied, and then he was put in the trunk of a vehicle. Karaal stated that he was then taken to the place where the police found him, and that two people were always waiting for him there.
Karaal's statement also included allegations of torture in detail. The complainant said that during his detention, his nails were pulled, he was beaten with sticks and irons, some people covered their faces, and he could not see the faces of all of them because their heads were constantly pressed down. Despite this, he declared that he saw several people and could identify them. During the testimony, Karaal was shown photographs of some people who were considered to be involved in the incident. Karaal said that the person in the first photo was one of the people who blocked his way at the time of the kidnapping and told him that he was a police officer and put him in the car, and that he also saw the same person in a cistern-like place.
Karaal said that there was a team of approximately 10 people involved in the incident. Stating that the suspects were constantly talking to other people on the phone, Karaal said that some of the conversations were made in Kurdish, so he did not understand what they were talking about; However, he stated that he thought the conversations were about his own situation. One of the most striking claims in Karaal's statement was about the end of the incident. The complainant said that the suspects were going to kill him eventually, but they were unable to do so because the police arrived. Karaal declared that he filed a complaint against all the people who kidnapped him, who acted as intermediaries in this matter, and who were aware of the incident but did not report it to the judicial authorities.
