Police bring donor organ to patient after overnight operation

In Bingen, the police went on a rather unusual, albeit urgent, operation. A suitable donor organ for a 65-year-old woman had been received at a university clinic, the police said - but the hospital could not reach the woman by phone. Since things have to be done quickly in such cases, officers drove to the woman's home address that night, where they were able to get her son out of bed and knock on the door. He informed his mother immediately. The woman, who needs a new liver, headed to the hospital.
