Portovenere, the body of Sebastiano Piaggi found

He was found in the area where he had been thrown from the dinghy on which the body of Sebastiano Piaggi was located, the 21-year-old from Riccò del Golfo who was the victim of an accident that is still inexplicable in some parts.

On August 15th, in the stretch of sea near the town of Portovenere, he was thrown into the water together with a friend who was on the boat with him. However, his friend resurfaced almost immediately with the help of the other boys, while Sebastiano disappeared in that calm sea, as if he had been swallowed up.

An even more absurd situation if you consider that that day, a boat party was taking place in the harbor of Portovenere, a sort of mid-August gathering in which dozens of small boats participated. The dinghy with Sebastiano's company had only passed without stopping. Then, a little further on, the accident. Someone has hypothesized that the wave created by some other vessel may have created a sudden obstacle that caused the dinghy to rear up, but this is a hypothesis that has not been officially confirmed.

The searches started immediately and also extended along the coast, especially in the rocky areas. For the first few days, family and friends had hoped that Sebastiano had been taken to some ravine and was trying to climb up the rocks from there. But as time passed, hope faded.

According to an initial reconstruction by the Captaincy, the body may have remained stuck in some rock at a shallow depth. Sebastiano may have immediately lost consciousness due to the violent impact with the water.

However, the prosecutor's office had opened an investigation. The driver of the dinghy was investigated as a matter of course. All the boys on board the dinghy had been subjected to alcohol tests and analyzes to verify drug intake, but all the tests gave negative results.
