City Hall suspends daycare classes after death of child left in car in Piauí

Piripiri City Hall declared an official three-day mourning period and suspended classes at the Virgem Poderosa Municipal Creche following the death of a 4-year-old child, recorded on Tuesday (3). According to management, the girl was left in a car in the municipality, located about 160 km north of Teresina.

In a statement, the city hall lamented the girl's death and informed that classes at the Virgem Poderosa Municipal Creche are suspended until Friday (6).

"In the face of such an early farewell, we express our most sincere feelings to family, friends, teachers and colleagues. In this moment of immense pain, Piripiri joins in prayer and prays to God to welcome and support the family, granting comfort and strength to face this irreparable loss", wrote the city hall.

The case occurred on Tuesday afternoon (3). According to the city hall, the child was with an aunt, who acts as director of the daycare center. When leaving the vehicle to go to work, she allegedly left the child inside the car.

The child was rescued and received treatment at the Chagas Rodrigues Regional Hospital, but did not survive.

Until the last update of this report, the circumstances of the case had not been clarified. There was also no information about the cause of death or the opening of an investigation by the competent authorities.
