The national edition of Aldo Moro's works was presented in Montecitorio

From the writings of a fifteen-year-old for Catholic Action, up to the speech of February 1978 to the DC parliamentary groups. The contents of the national edition of the works of Aldo Moro illustrated in Montecitorio in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the President of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana are extensive.

The collection - strictly online - contains various writings of the Christian Democrat statesman: those of his youthful years (1932-46), of the Dossettian period and of Democratic Initiative (1946-58), those of the centre-left (1959-68) and of the last phase (1968-78). "The first part of this project develops over 10,000 pages of texts - explained Fontana -. It is the result of a complex research activity which has involved, for almost a decade, numerous Italian cultural institutions and universities. Constituent Father, deputy during seven legislatures, Prime Minister and Minister several times, Aldo Moro was an undisputed protagonist in the history of our Republic" and it is "indispensable that the memory of this authentic servant of the State is not limited to his kidnapping and his dramatic killing".

Among the first documents is that of Moro who, at the age of 15, after having attended the "San Francesco d'Assisi" youth club of the Italian Youth of Catholic Action of Taranto, was appointed diocesan delegate of the "aspirants", boys aged from ten to fourteen who were preparing to become effective members of the Italian Catholic Action. It was 1932 and he introduced himself like this: "I accepted the position not because I considered myself capable of doing well, since I know my inexperience, but entirely trusting in the help of divine grace".

"You too should love me a little and, linked by this fraternal bond of affection, my work will be easier and we will reap abundant fruits." Forty-six years later (and two weeks before his kidnapping) is the speech to the parliamentary groups of the DC in which the statesman hopes for the launch of a new Christian Democratic monopoly led by Giulio Andreotti with the support of the other parties of the constitutional arc: the search for communist non-opposition and programmatic convergence, an agreement limited up to the presidential elections: "We have an economic emergency, a political emergency, and I hear talk of an opposition, of the game of the majority and the opposition. And I am in principle I fully agree with our system which is the most perfect." "But imagine, dear friends - said Moro -, what would it be like in Italy, at this moment, in this historical moment, if the logic of the opposition were carried out to the end... if this country, with its continuous passion and fragile structures, was put to the test every day by an opposition carried out to the end?"
