The agents were at km 293 when they ordered a vehicle with São Paulo (SP) plates to stop. According to the Federal Highway Police, the driver did not obey and fled at high speed.
Still according to the PRF, the agents began the pursuit. At km 283, after 10 km of pursuit, the police lost sight of the car on a curve, where there was an access to a company on the side of the highway.

During searches nearby, agents found the vehicle lying in a rainwater drainage ditch.
According to the corporation, the driver entered the company's entrance thinking it was a street. When he saw a gate, he tried to avoid it, lost control of the steering wheel, overturned and fell into the ditch.
The Federal Highway Police also reported that during the search of the vehicle, several marijuana tablets were found, totaling 232 kg of the drug. The driver was not located.
A team from CCR RioSP, the concessionaire that manages the stretch, was at the scene and removed the car from the hole.
