Left primary: six candidates vying for the first round

There are now six on the starting line. In a month, Raphaël Glucksmann, Olivier Faure, Ségolène Royal, Philippe Brun, Jérôme Guedj and Emmanuel Maurel will compete for first place in a left-wing primary (the first round of which is scheduled for October 9 and 10). All have obtained the 500 sponsorships essential to enter the competition, while the ex-Insoumis François Ruffin and the Ecologist Marine Tondelier are still kept aside.

At this stage, the central political divide between the social democracy candidates is around their relationship to France Insoumise. Olivier Faure is open to alliances of circumstances with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, unlike Raphaël Glucksmann and Jérôme Guedj. In substance, their programs - more or less detailed - also diverge.
