Full-time school is not prison. It is a place for students, teachers and staff to coexist. To achieve this, it is necessary to guarantee multi-sports courts, guarantee renovation of schools so that the roof doesn't fall in the teacher's face, so that we can actually guarantee a quality meal, not with outsourced companies, and appreciation of those who provide education, teachers, employees. To achieve this, it is necessary to enhance the career, guaranteeing the floor in the career of teachers. Ultimately, quality public education.
More than advancing in integral education, this integral education must be accompanied by the necessary actions that did not happen for it to exist. There is no way I can leave the child or teenager at school all day if the teachers are not prepared for this extracurricular activity and are not paid enough to be there. There is no point in not having theater, cinema, IT, technology structures and making children and young people have to stay at school, often like someone going to a torture center. It is necessary to listen to young people first to find out what they want in order to have the desire to go to school and ensure that teachers are respected. This includes salary. This includes competition, there cannot be first or second category teachers in high schools in our state of Pernambuco. So you need to respect teachers. Regarding the issue of school meals, it is important that the state invests heavily in family and organic farming so that we can have real food made in a real way within the schools themselves. This is a huge leap in quality for our children’s food and health.
I will really take care of education in Pernambuco. It will be from early childhood to the first job, opening daycare centers, building new full-time schools, new technical schools, higher education training programs in the area of technology, and we will really take care of it. Unfortunately, Pernambuco, in the last three years, has changed secretaries three times, serious problems with infrastructure, learning, meals, things that have not been seen for a long time. And we are going to build a new cycle of education development in the state of Pernambuco. We are going to universalize full education, double the technical education network in the state of Pernambuco, associated with production chains, so that we can generate jobs and create opportunities for those who live and study in Pernambuco. I was the mayor of Brazil who built the most daycare centers, in Recife, and now we are going to take the daycare centers to the interior of the state and really take care of education.
The difference with our government is that we don't hide problems. We shine a light on it, we work to resolve it. In January 2023, we received a structure from the precarious public school network and we have worked tirelessly to guarantee dignity and an adequate structure for our students. Together for Education has guaranteed R$5 and a half billion in investment and we have already delivered more than 250 multi-sports courts, new laboratories are being renovated, guarantee of new equipment for the schools, including benches, chairs, refrigerators, stoves, tables, but we know that it needs to reach the network as a whole and we are doing that. We will not rest until we deliver. We did something that was not proposed in the government plan, the 'Tennis Pix', more than R$70 million to put shoes on our children's feet. We have increased the participation of family farming in our meals to guarantee quality meals and this is being done at our school. We have air conditioning in more than 600 of them, because that is not a luxury. This is right and dignity for our boys.
We need to work on prevention. Today we need to wait for it to break and then fix it. So, our proposal is to do an X-ray of all the schools in Pernambuco, see what needs to be done and what is missing. And then, later, changing the culture, it will be through prevention. There is another way too. The second is that today principals are responsible for managing school purchases, including lunches. We need to change this logic and centralize this in the State Department of Education. We are going to copy the model that worked very well in Espírito Santo. There they did this centralization, managed to save 30% of the budget and this amount was used precisely to reinvest in infrastructure and maintenance
