Trial surrounding the kidnapping of the Block children: Gerhard Delling rejects allegations

In the final phase of the trial surrounding the kidnapping of the Block children, Christina Block's partner, Gerhard Delling, once again denied the prosecution's allegations. “I was neither involved nor had any idea about it,” said the 67-year-old in front of the Hamburg regional court. The proceedings in which he is accused of aiding and abetting have “extremely affected” his life. He asked the judges to keep an open mind when listening to his statement.

“The children were not afraid of their mother, they were close to her,” Delling said. He never experienced violence from his partner against her children in his presence - otherwise he would not have stayed with her. “I have never seen so many tears,” the defendant reported in his statement lasting several hours about the desperation of the mother, who has had no contact with her children in Denmark for years. Delling had already made a long statement in September 2025.

Only one of seven defendants admitted the allegations

According to the public prosecutor's office, Delling is said to have organized Block's meeting with her son and daughter on January 1, 2024 in Baden-Württemberg and coordinated their return to Hamburg together. Delling is also suspected of giving false information to detectives. A 37-year-old from Israel is the only one of the seven defendants who has admitted the prosecutor's allegations.
