5 people detained in RAF Fairford incident, Iran role allegation on the agenda

The investigation into the incident in which 5 people were detained after suspicious vehicles were seen on September 27 near the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford Air Base, used by the US Air Force in England, is continuing. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated that he believes Iran played a role in the RAF Fairford incident and said, "There are strong indications that Iran played a role in what happened at RAF Fairford over the weekend." Burnham did not provide further details.

Responding to the question of why the suspects were released on bail, Burnham stated that the people in question were subject to the "strictest possible bail conditions" and said that the British authorities "controlled the incident most strictly and followed it closely."

Burnham's statements came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last Monday that the incident at RAF Fairford "clearly involved the intervention of a foreign actor". In his interview with Fox News on Monday, Rubio said, "What happened in England over the weekend, what is about to happen and what may happen is an extremely serious situation. I can clearly say that a foreign actor played a role in this. However, I will not go into too much detail about it at this stage."

NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED ABOUT 3 SUSPICIOUS MINIBUS

British police announced that they received a report about 3 suspicious minibuses that were stated to be heading towards RAF Fairford Air Base in the west of the country on September 27. Following the notice, armed police teams were dispatched to the region and 5 people were detained. It was reported that the suspects were detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. Counter-Terrorism Unit officer Laurence Taylor said, "Following extensive interviews and investigation, the five people detained were released on police bail today. I would like to make it clear that this does not mean that the investigation is over. These people continue to be subject to strict conditions regarding their movements and communication with other people."

It was reported that 4 of the people, all of whom were British citizens between the ages of 23 and 25, lived in Westminster and one lived in Camden, and their homes were searched. The police had announced that there was some gasoline in the minibuses, but there was no explosive device.
