Renzi proposes a 'German contract' for the centre-left, but cold allies

The program first of all, or rather "precise points with a German-style contract", on the model of the coalition agreements used in Berlin by the parties that decide to govern together. Prodding the allies with the idea of ​​a 'pact' is the leader of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi, from the Cernobbio stage. Not only to "send Urso and Salvini home", he explains, but also to "give Europe the idea of ​​an Italy as a protagonist, which does not simply float".

However, the proposal to sign a sort of contract that everyone must then abide by does not warm the hearts of those directly involved. AvS's reaction was cold, just as the words of Elly Schlein and Giuseppe Conte were less than enthusiastic. "It doesn't seem like anything new to me", Angelo Bonelli cuts short, while the dem secretary focuses on the upcoming deadlines: "September is the month in which we get to the heart of building the alternative programme, together with the entire progressive alliance, we will discuss the how together with the allies". However, the PD leader is clear on one thing: "We are not having this discussion closed in our rooms, but among the people, meeting the productive world, the trade union world, the vitality of the third sector, the experts, the scientists, those who have not been listened to by the Meloni government in recent years".

It is together with them that, according to the secretary of the Democratic Party, we must "refine a clear program". A work that "does not start from scratch", but "from the many unitary proposals that we have already made in recent years in Parliament and in the country".

The centre-left, moreover, already has some "significant proposals on labour, environmental policies and some important elements such as the law on conflict of interests", points out the president of the 5 Star Movement Giuseppe Conte, who spoke via video link. Who talks about primaries "every day", he observes, "but it is clear that this is the moment of the program". Also on foreign policy: "Our positions are very clear, we all agree that Europe does not benefit from the military escalation which is draining many resources", Conte cuts short on the differences with the allies.

Nicola Fratoianni of Avs calls for a united demonstration on the climate crisis, because "we can and must change the pace of the discussion between us, and this concerns the program but also the action", while for Bonelli, convinced that the center-left will "govern" and "build a better Italy", the only contract that is valid is "the program signed with the Italians".
