Rey Vaqueiro and team are fine after plane crash in Parelhas; shows resume on Saturday

Singer Rey Vaqueiro and the members of his team who were on the aircraft involved in an accident in Parelhas, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, last weekend, remain well and are undergoing medical examinations and evaluations. The information was released this Monday (14) in a new official statement published on social media.

According to the note, those involved remain under monitoring by the responsible teams as a safety and care measure. Rey Vaqueiro's team also informed that the singer's performance schedule will resume normally from Saturday (19). As a result, the shows scheduled between this Monday (14) and Friday (18), in Ceará, Tocantins and Pará, will be canceled or postponed.

"At this time, our priority is the care and well-being of everyone involved," says the statement. The team also stated that it is in direct contact with the contractors to make the necessary adjustments and realign the presentations that were affected by the accident.

The shows that were scheduled for this Sunday (13), in the cities of Custódia and Canhotinho, in Pernambuco, were canceled after the accident. According to the new statement, any change, rescheduling or new definition of the agenda will be announced through the artist's official channels as soon as the details are established.

The accident happened in the early hours of Sunday, when the aircraft carrying Rey Vaqueiro and part of his team left the runway during landing at a mining company aerodrome, in Parelhas. The plane caught fire soon after, with both turbines engulfed in flames.

In total, eight people were on board: Rey Vaqueiro, five team members, the pilot and the co-pilot. Everyone managed to leave the aircraft before the fire spread and were taken to the Parelhas Municipal Hospital for medical evaluation. No one was seriously injured.

The Fire Department worked for around five hours to fight the fire. Nine firefighters participated in the incident, which was also aimed at preventing the flames from reaching a forested area close to the site. After controlling the fire, the military cooled the turbines while the fuel that remained in the aircraft was consumed.

Plane was regular

The landing took place at a mining company's aerodrome in Parelhas. Minutes earlier, a first aircraft carrying another part of the singer's team had landed uneventfully.

According to the Fire Department, the runway was fit and presented no problems for landing or takeoff. Data from the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB) indicate that the plane, registered PP-WMO, was a Cessna 550 Bravo, manufactured in 2006 and with capacity for eight passengers.

Also according to the RAB, the aircraft was ready for flight and had an airworthiness certificate valid until May 2027. The Fire Department reported that it contacted the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa), responsible for investigating the causes of the accident.

Singer had performed in Pernambuco

Rey Vaqueiro had performed in Moreno, in Pernambuco, hours before the accident. The singer had a show scheduled in Parelhas at 2:30 am on Sunday.

After the incident, Rey Vaqueiro published a message on social media stating that he and the team were fine and had received medical attention. With the accident, appointments that would be held later that Sunday were cancelled.
