Roberto Carlos confesses that he lost 99% of his assets due to problems with his ex-agent and family issues

I've had problems with people zeroing out my account. Due to agents and family issues, I lost 99% of everything I had earned in football. I made mistakes and that's why I urge younger players not to do the same. This is the shocking confession made by the former full-back of the Brazilian national team and Real Madrid, Roberto Carlos, at the Portugal Football Summit, and relaunched by the Brazilian media.

I've always thought about life after my career. It means building a legacy as a player and enhancing your image. When I decided to stop playing, I already had a sports director's license and was working with many brands, he said, underlining that despite planning for his future he saw his bank account empty and he almost lost everything.

I had a serious problem with my former agent and a very serious family issue. One Thursday I went to sleep at midnight, and on Friday I received a stack of documents that I didn't even know existed. That's when I lost all my assets, he said.

The former footballer said he has begun using his own experience as a warning to younger athletes.

I share everything negative that has happened in my life with the younger players, so that they don't make the same mistakes I made, he said.
