Russia Successfully Launches Military Satellite into Target Orbit

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. A military satellite launched atop a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket from the Plesetsk spaceport has been delivered into the target orbit, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported. The ministry reported earlier on August 24 that a combat team of the Aerospace Forces’ Space Troops had successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b medium-class carrier rocket with a military satellite from the Plesetsk spaceport in northwestern Russia at 5:40 a.m. Moscow time (2:40 a.m. GMT) on Monday. "At the designated time, the space vehicle was delivered into the target orbit and placed under the control of ground facilities of the Aerospace Forces’ Space Troops. Stable telemetry communication has been established and is maintained with the satellite and all its onboard systems are operating in normal mode," the ministry said in a statement.
