Russia to address Ukraine's 'Nazification' at upcoming UN Security Council meeting

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. Russia is set to use the platform of the UN Security Council meeting on September 23 to outline the objectives of its special military operation and focus on the issue of Ukraine’s Nazification, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organizations Kirill Logvinov said in an interview with TASS.

Speaking ahead of the Russian delegation’s visit to the UN General Assembly, the Russian diplomat pointed out that France would assume the presiding chair in the UN Security Council later this month and once the French officials are in the office: "They intend to bring the situation in Ukraine to the top of the September 23 session’s agenda."

According to him, "it would provide a good opportunity for the top officials in the Russian delegation to once again set out in detail all goals and objectives of the special military operation, and to voice concerns about ensuring that the rights of Russian nationals and Russian-speaking people in Ukraine are protected."

"We do have things to address with Western countries that support the Kiev regime with money and weapons and deal with ‘prioritizing’ the UN Charter principles and its [UN] Secretariat’s representatives," Logvinov continued. "In the presence of our anti-Hitler coalition allies we intend to closely examine the ongoing Ukraine’s Nazification."

He believes it to be important in this regard that "the UN Security Council’s agenda for this month has not been confirmed yet."

"The French, backed by other Western states and with the United States in the lead, tried to schedule a meeting of the non-existent ‘1737 Committee’ on Iran, with a reference to an alleged restoration of sanctions against the Islamic Republic," Logvinov stated.

The diplomat emphasized that "Russia and China opposed such an arbitrary attitude towards the collegial body’s work, which the UN Security Council should be responsible for."

The headquarters of the global organization in New York City will host the General Debate of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) with the participation of heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers, on September 22-26 and September 28. The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
