Russian State Duma Commission Accuses Western NGOs of Pre-Election Destabilization Attempts

MOSCOW, August 24. /TASS/. The State Duma’s Commission for Investigating Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs has determined that Western non-governmental organizations are actively attempting to destabilize Russia ahead of the upcoming elections, according to commission head Vasily Piskarev.

"Western NGOs are involved in efforts to undermine stability within Russia in connection with the forthcoming elections," Piskarev stated. He further explained that certain "human rights" organizations operating in Russia possess materials containing disparaging assessments of Russian electoral laws and the electoral process itself. Additionally, some analytical websites have issued calls to "destabilize the system through regional and municipal levels," alongside proposals to escalate Ukrainian attacks against Russia prior to the vote.

Piskarev also highlighted that personnel from other NGOs, such as the US-based Human Rights Foundation, are engaged in training provocateurs to be used during the electoral period. In response, he welcomed the recent decision by the Prosecutor General’s Office, which supported the commission’s recommendation and declared the activities of the Human Rights Foundation undesirable within Russia.
