Russia notes Germany's decision to close consulates

In the statement made by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reminded that Germany decided to close the Consulate General of Russia in Bonn and the "Russian House" Culture and Science Center.

In the statement, it was stated that Germany's decision was an "unfriendly action" and that a note was given to the Charge d'Affaires of the German Embassy in Moscow.

The statement included the following statements:

"The Russian side withdrew the decision allowing the activities of the Consulate General of Germany in St. Petersburg as of August 29. The Consulate General must terminate its activities by September 18, and its employees must leave Russian territory. The centers of the Goethe Institute in Russia must also terminate their activities. The center employees must leave Russia by September 13."

In the statement, which stated that Berlin had triggered renewed tension in bilateral relations, it was emphasized that the German government was responsible for the consequences.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A UAV, thought to contain an explosive device, was found near a Ukrainian transport plane at Leipzig-Halle Airport in Germany on August 4.

US intelligence claimed that the features of the explosive-laden UAV found were "specific" to Russian military intelligence.

The German government announced a series of measures on September 1, stating that the findings obtained in the investigation into the incident showed Russia responsible.

According to the decision, Russia's Consulate General in Bonn will be closed as of September 18, the contract for the Russian House in Berlin will be terminated, entry controls for Russian citizens will be tightened and the pressure on Russia's so-called shadow fleet will be increased.
