Russian flagged tanker Pioner 1 drifted off the coast of Marmara Island due to machinery malfunction and called for help.

In the post made on the virtual media account of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, "The Russian-flagged tanker named Pioner 1, which is 243 meters long and loaded with 96 thousand 544 tons of crude oil, traveling from Russia to China, was dragged off the coast of Marmara Island due to a machinery malfunction and requested assistance.

Under the coordination of our Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center, our Nene Hatun Emergency Response Ship and Rescue-16 Tugboat were immediately dispatched to the region.

"Nene Hatun secured the tanker by towing it at 22.30, and Pioner 1 will be towed to Şevketiye Anchorage Field and anchored safely."
