Sabotage on high-voltage lines: Another letter of responsibility found

After home-made explosive devices were found on high-voltage lines near the Weisweiler power plant in North Rhine-Westphalia, the police found another letter of responsibility. The Cologne police did not release any details on Tuesday due to the ongoing investigation.

During the search at the power plant there were flashes and banging noises on Monday evening. According to the information, possible damage has not yet been identified. The officers continued the search for evidence, traces and the alleged suspect in the area around the power plant on Tuesday.

On Tuesday last week, attacks were carried out on substations near Jänschwalde in Brandenburg and Bergheim in North Rhine-Westphalia. Further suspicious devices were later discovered in Dormagen and Weisweiler. According to police and network operators, pyrotechnic projectiles were used to shoot conductive material into high-voltage lines to cause short circuits. Launchers were found in the area.

In connection with the series of sabotage actions, the authorities have been searching for 48-year-old Daniel V. from Gevelsberg for days without success. Officers initially stormed his truck, which had been converted into a mobile home. It was then said that Daniel V. was fleeing on foot or by bicycle. The investigators published a search call on Saturday with two photos of the suspect. A large-scale operation was also started in the Hambacher Forest, but without results.
