Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) is planning a campaign appearance shortly before the election for the Berlin House of Representatives.

On September 17th, three days before the election, the CDU invites you to a joint event with top candidate Stefan Evers at its federal office.

At the event under the motto “Keep extremists away from power. “Solutions from the Center” is about a clear demarcation from the political fringes and the CDU’s political answers for Berlin, the party said.

In the Berlin election campaign, CDU politicians, like those of the SPD, have to contend with strong headwinds because the reform plans of the black-red federal government are not well received by many people.

After the election in Saxony-Anhalt, there is increased discussion about the role of Chancellor and CDU leader Merz.

According to surveys, he is not very popular among the population.

CDU in Berlin just ahead in polls

In the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday, the AfD achieved a record result of 43.8 percent.

In contrast, the previously ruling CDU was punished with 17.2 percent and suffered heavy losses.

New state parliaments will be elected in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on September 20th.

In Berlin surveys, the CDU was recently in first place with around 20 percent or second behind the Left.
