The first hearing of the case in which former Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Sadettin Saran and Ela Rümeysa Cebeci are being tried separately for the crime of 'trafficking or supplying drugs or stimulants' and requesting imprisonment for not less than 10 years was held.
While the detained defendant Saadettin Saran attended the first hearing at the 4th High Criminal Court of the Istanbul Palace of Justice, the detained defendant Ela Rümeysa Cebeci did not attend.
Sadettin Saran, who stated that his monthly income was 6 million, said in his defense: "These dialogues and correspondences were related to a movie that Ela Hanım and I watched together as a result of the emotional relationship that developed between us. In these correspondences, a deer was made saying 'come and come'. It was a mixture of joke and deer. I neither used it nor gave it to anyone nor did I sell it. Would I write about it if I cultivated such a thing? It was a complete joke. Although a search was made in my garden and house, it was not found. I feel incredibly sad and ashamed to be here." Witness Hasan Dereci said, "I know Saadettin Saran. I know Ela Rümeysa as much as I saw on social media. I was in the center of Çanakkale on the day of the incident. Law enforcement called me. I was told that a search would be made at Saran's house. Since the house was empty, I went to the summer house. A search was carried out. This is all I know. I did not see anything planted in the garden. We have a business relationship with Saran. I also deal in landscaping. I have the key to the exterior door. I care for the olives." "There is maintenance of the garden. That's why I didn't see any drugs being used in the house," he said.
The court decided to remove Saran's obligation to attend the hearings, to hear Ela Rümeysa Cebeci in the next hearing, and to continue the judicial control measures such as a ban on traveling abroad. The hearing was postponed to November 4.
