Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, in his speech at the opening ceremony of Samsun City Hospital, said that they have made a great transformation in health in Türkiye.
Explaining that they have done things that were said to be "impossible" from health to industry, from education to technology, Minister Memişoğlu said, "We have implemented the things that were said to be impossible, one by one. Today, we continue on our way with the same belief and determination." he said.
Emphasizing that man's greatest wealth is health, Memişoğlu continued as follows:
"Anatolia has been healing people for centuries with this understanding. Gevher Nesibe Sultan Darüşşifa and Medical Madrasa, built in Kayseri in the name of Kılıçarslan's daughter Gevher Nesibe Sultan, is one of the best examples of this understanding. These steps taken in Anatolia formed the basis of the modern medicine we have come to today. Our country is full of such treasures that shed light on humanity. Our duty is to carry this great heritage to the future with the power of science and technology. Today, Türkiye is its own "We develop our own medicine, vaccine and device. Just as we produce our domestic automobiles and warplanes, we also develop our own technology in healthcare. Türkiye's healthcare system has reached a point that is exemplary in the world. The basis of these successes is your trust in us and the strong will of our President towards Türkiye's healthcare vision."
Minister Memişoğlu pointed out that there is no longer a distance between cities in health services and said, "Advanced medical practices can be performed in every part of Anatolia. We can perform open heart surgery in Siirt, liver transplantation in Malatya, advanced surgical applications in Van, and treatments requiring high technology in Antalya. Many procedures that were performed in big cities a quarter of a century ago are today successfully implemented in different cities of Türkiye. Our citizens can access excellent healthcare services in their own cities."
Memişoğlu said that when hospitals are mentioned in Türkiye, modern, spacious and trustworthy hospitals with their technological infrastructure come to mind and said:
"This is the name of the great transformation that Türkiye has made in health. On the one hand, we are bringing powerful health facilities to our country, and on the other hand, we are working to produce our own medicine, vaccine and medical device. We are expanding our own power, our own technology and our own production in health. This is called productive health. We have produced our respiratory devices, the heart-lung machine and automatic shock device, which are produced in only three countries in the world. Many products, from CAR-T cell therapy to mobile digital x-ray devices, domestic vaccines and diagnostic kits, are produced by our scientists. "We developed it with his efforts and put it at the service of our nation."
Emphasizing that they have increased the import coverage ratio of Türkiye's medical device exports to 43 percent and that they will continue to increase this further, Minister Memişoğlu said, "These are important steps that strengthen our independence in health. Under the leadership of our President, we will hopefully make the health industry one of the locomotive sectors of Türkiye." he said.
Stating that health is the greatest treasure a person can have, Minister Memişoğlu concluded his words as follows:
"It is the most valuable legacy we will leave to future generations. With our vision of health that protects, we invest in the health of our beloved nation, not in disease. We are the ministry of health, not disease. We have to turn healthy living into a culture together. For this, we have healthy life centers. We reached 55 million citizens in 2024 in these centers, where we offer many services such as free dietitians, physiotherapists, cancer screenings and pregnancy schools. We call our citizens with our family doctors and ensure regular follow-up of chronic diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure. This "In this context, we diagnosed the chronic diseases of more than 14 million citizens early and intervened in a timely manner. We will work continuously to make Türkiye one of the leading countries in the world in both health services and health technologies."
