Operation against the 'Hats' criminal organization: 9 detained

The incident took place on Friday, August 7, in Seyrantepe District. According to the information obtained, the suspect, who came in front of the advertising and digital printing company, ran away after opening fire towards the workplace. Following the attack, Public Security Branch Directorate Extortion Bureau teams started work. During the studies, security camera footage of the attack was examined. The footage showed the suspect coming in front of the workplace, opening fire with a gun and then running away.

ONE DAY LATER, THE RESIDENCE IN ŞİRİNTEPE WAS SHOT BY BULLETS

One day after the attack in Seyrantepe District, an armed attack was carried out on the residence in Şirintepe District. Extortion Bureau teams examined the connection between the two shootings and determined that the attacks were carried out by members of the same armed criminal organization.

'HATS' CONNECTION HAS BEEN DETECTED

Within the scope of the investigation carried out under the coordination of the Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Istanbul Police Department teams worked to determine the activities of the 'Hats' armed criminal organization. The teams determined that the organization operates throughout Türkiye and internationally, especially in Istanbul. It was determined that the leader of the organization was abroad and that there was a red notice search warrant for some of its executives.

4 ACTIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION WERE DEVELOPED

In the studies carried out, it was determined that the members of the organization were involved in the wounding of M.E. in Beyoğlu on July 31, the injury and threat incident that took place in the National Sovereignty Park in Avcılar Yeşilkent District on August 3, the shooting of the advertising and digital printing company in Seyrantepe District on August 7, and the shooting of the residence in Şirintepe District on August 8.

9 SUSPECTS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Following the work of the teams, a simultaneous operation based in Istanbul was organized yesterday to capture the members of the organization. 9 suspects were caught and detained during the raids at the specified addresses. The suspects' procedures at the police station are continuing.
